Cute kids...

Here is a picture of the kids all dressed up and on the way to church. Xander is so big compared to her!

Marissa is 2 months old!

Marissa is two months old now, has almost doubled in weight (10 lbs, 3 oz) and has started to smile and be a lot more fun! She has a very expressive face and will often look at us with one eyebrow raised as we act like a bunch of idiots trying to make her smile! She definitely likes to have your attention though-when you are holding her and then look away to talk or watch TV she will kick and squirm until you look at her again. We love our little girl!

Xander lost his first teeth!

So a couple of weeks ago, Xander started talking a little funny and then I noticed his teeth were at a weird angle. At first I thought he hit them on something since he is always jumping off of things, but when I looked closer I saw that there were some new teeth popping up behind them! So right after his birthday party, I was talking to him and noticed that it was bleeding around one of them and I told Ash that he should pull it out. Xander was kind of nervous so he held my hand while Ash put some orajel on his gums and pulled both of them out! That night he fell asleep on the couch before we could put his teeth under his pillow so the tooth fairy just left him a note by his tooth saver treasure chest and 4 quarters. The next morning when he came downstairs, he saw the money by his teeth and said, "MOM, LOOK...do you see that? The tooth fairy gave me FOUR quarters...probably because I was so brave, right?" He was SO excited! Now he is constantly sticking his tongue in the empty spot, but at least he is talking better (no more whistling)!

Xander's birthday party!

Xander had his birthday party a couple of weeks late since things were kind of busy with the new baby, spring break, and having Easter early this year. So we squeezed in his party in between conference sessions on Saturday.

First they ate...Xander's favorite Little Caesar's $5 hot and ready pizza! Yum!
Then they went on a treasure hunt around the yard and house that followed pictures posted at each location. They got little prizes like balloons and bubbles at each location and it ended at a treasure chest full of gold wrapped candy. We had a MOMS Club activity like this a couple weeks before and Xander loved it. Thanks JoDee for the idea!
Then of course there was a pinata. We started out with a soft bat so each kid would get a chance to hit it and then let Xander go at it with the hard bat. Two swings with the hard bat by a 5 year old was all it took for candy to go flying!
Then we went in to open presents and have cake and ice cream. Xander requested that I make him an "army guy cake with fondant" (funny that he actually knows what it is called!), so here is what I came up with. Don't worry..that is not marker on the cake! It is an edible food marker (a lot of the moms asked me that question!) that is really nice to use when you are working with fondant. The candles were sparkler candles to kind of add an explosive effect that Xander wanted. It was a lot of fun but also a lot of work so maybe next year we will just take the kids to Boondocks or something!

Birthday cake

Here is a cake I made a couple of weeks back for my neighbor. She won the cake at our Relief Society dinner and had it made as a surprise for her mom's birthday. Luckily Marissa took just long enough of a nap for me to finish it!
